Shagbark Golf & Country Club was opened in 1925 under the name Spring Creek golf course. In 1978 Louis Razzano purchased the course from Joe Holmes of Piper City, and this was the start of 40 plus years of Shagbark being owned by the Razzano family. In 1980  Bob & Virginia Sonne managed the golf course and continued until early 1990.  In 1990 Louis's granddaughter Patti and her husband Duane Luehrsen took over the day to day operations and continue to this day. A. William Razzano assumed ownership in 1994 and Shagbark stays in the family for over 40 years.
